It's more fun in Philippines! That's true, Boracay is a place to visit to enjoy a break from everyday life. With a 24h delay due to Quinta Storm, we finally reached Boracay. Having dropped our stuff at the hotel we started to enjoy our short, 2-day stay in this island. It's quite famous for it's white powder sand and blue water and sky and that's the major things that we enjoyed.

Our hotel is located just at the beach side and also provides transport via private boat from and to the airport. It also creates a very nice first impression as their staff dress code is.. nice :-)

We had several activities planned earlier, but the picturesque beach convinced us to drop most of them and enjoy the water and sun.
Nonetheless we tried helmet diving - a very nice experience to walk under water with plenty of fish and colorful corals, assisted by divers. It's really recommended to try this, even if you never dived and/or cannot swim (like me :) )

After the diving experience, we went to the opposite side - air. The Zipline ride may be quite challenging, but having done that earlier we didn't feel much fear.

Apart from that - we spend the days on sitting on the beach, eating Filipino dishes, snorkeling and enjoying the sun.

Unfortunately we had only 2 nights there, but it was worth it. We headed back home relaxed and happy.
Some tips:

  • • To reach Boracay you can go thru Manila (recommended) or Cebu (a bit worse experience :) )
  • • Airport is in Caticlan, which is around 15 minutes by boat from Boracay. It's pretty near from the airport to the ferry terminal. Boracay Regency has it's "port" just a minute away.
  • • Beer is around 45 PHP in a beachfront shop and twice more in the restaurant. Food prices in restaurant start from around 100 PHP to 500 PHP per dish.
  • • You can buy snorkeling equipment for around 350 PHP, don't pay more for rental :)
  • • Remember about terminal fee - bring some PHP with you.
